Introducing our Club Director

10 Jan

At Positive Vibrations, our mission is to be a world leading agency that supports young people, their families, and communities to become self-reliant positive contributors to society. Our Wellington based charity has a range of initiatives that reach communities across New Zealand and throughout the South Pacific.

Positive Vibrations Waipa (PVW) is one of the charities Sports Development initiatives which was created to break down barriers for young people in the Waipa to participate in physical activity and sport.

This initiative is driven by our Waipa Director Jacqui McCann who is based in Cambridge.

Jacqui plays a significant part in enhancing children's lives and involvement with sport and education. She is passionate about 'Balance is Better' and has a knack for understanding and navigating the complex challenges and issues in youth sport today. She loves to think outside the box and coming up with new ways of engaging with physical activity and sport.

Jacqui trained as a secondary school teacher and in sports administration. After several years as a sports coordinator Jacqui dedicated her attention and time to the children in her care and classroom where she taught intermediate and primary school children, championing their involvement in sport and extra-curricular activities.

Jacqui has taken her classroom experience and love for youth into the sport sector where she is currently a relationship manager for Gymnastics New Zealand. In this role she drives the delivery of initiatives through their regional action plans and provides hands-on assistance with gymnastics clubs in the Waikato, Bay of Plenty, and Taranaki.

We are looking forward to seeing the impact Jacqui's leadership will have on our organisation while also growing the team at Positive Vibrations Waipa through partnerships with existing clubs and organisations and by working with the youth across the Waipa to create positive experiences for all.

Please reach out to Jacqui either through the club’s social media channels or by flicking an email to waipa@positivevibrations.co.nz if there is a programme/project you think could create some positive vibrations in the Waipa.

Stay Positive!
